The Three Amigos, 1986

In the age of silent films, the most famous stars of the silver screens are Lucky Day (Steve Martin), Ned Nedelender (Martin Short) and Dusty Bottoms (Chevy Chase).

When a small Mexican village is terrorised by the "infamous" El Guapo, one of the villagers calls upon the Three Amigos for help mistaking them for real life cowboys. She asks them for help in fighting El Guapo in exchange for 10,000 paesos which she assumes they will not accept as in their films.

In Hollywood, the Three Amigos are fired by their agent. After receiving the telegram from the senorita, they misunderstand her request to fight for a showcase.

They successfully scare off three henchmen but when El Guapo turns up they realise this isn't a show and flee town. When they return and find that El Guapo has taken the girl, they decide to be real life cowboys and rescue her. Then they help the villagers fight El Guapo themselves.

I remember the first time I watched this film when I was younger and I loved it back then as much as I do now. My favourite scenes are where they sing Ned to sleep and all the animals join in and when Lucky shoots the Invisible swordsman.
