A website for a frozen yogurt (that's low fat ice cream to you and me) from America, the website features illustrative drawings of Sour Sally and the yogurt world she lives in. The drawings are interactive and the user can move her around the screen and explore the world.
This is a new and interesting way of advertising something you would not normally associate with such advertising methods. It is a fun and interesting way of inviting people to enjoy the website and because it is so original it has won awards which will of course publicise the site.

Foot Locker Europe

The Foot Locker website is fairly slow to loads up as there are a lot of graphics used in the opening sequence. What seems to be just a bunch of traingles reforms to present the new Nike trainers, it's no wonder it takes so long to load as the graphics are of an incredible quality.
The page then leads you onto a menu of activities to illustrate the advance performance of the trainers, these involve keeping the mouse inside the yellow box to show reponsiveness by testing your reactions and creating a piece of art from the innovative shapes used in the trainer.
This is an original and unique way of promoting trainers and it is clearly a fantastic website.

Wassily Kandinsky
Kandinsky was born in Russia and was considered to be the first abstract painter. Kandinsky began painting realistic images of scenes from around him but moved onto expressionism after art school.
Kandinsky aimed to illustrate life in his later more abstract paintings and I think this is achieved through his used of geometric shapes and bold colours. It is interesting to see his development from physical accuracy to completely abstract and the representations that come with it.

Seymour Powell

Seymour Powell is a product design company started in 1984 by two of the directors Richard Seymour and Dick Powell. Since then it has become a thriving business concentrating in the areas of packaging, transport design, product design and product development.
The website starts with a stack of papers and with each click the papers fall to show a fact about the company such as their awards and companies they work with (Ford, Durex, Guiness). This then automatically leads to the case studies page of products they have designed. It is very easy to navigate around the page however, it is not clear how to return to the previous page without pressing back. The menu is clear and it is very easy to move to the different areas of the website. The appearance is very cool and sleek with a white background and grey typography, it is a very well designed and professional website which is what you would expect from a prestegious design company.

Marc Chagall
Marc Chagall often used inspiration from his Jewish upbringing as inspiration for many of his paintings. He used many items of symbolism to express hope and life. His painting "The Bride" was featured in the film "Notting Hill" and many of his religious works still remain in churches. Chagall is one of my favourite artists because of his clever use of symbols to portray hidden messages in his work.
Nick Park
Nick Park joined Aardman animation in 1985 and completed his animation of a Grand Day Out featuring Wallace and his dog Gromit. This was followed by Creature Comforts and the other Wallace and Gromit films The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave and the Curse of the Wererabbit. Also in their portfolio is the video for Sledgehammer and adverts for PG Tips and the film Chicken Run.
I consider Park to be an artist as his work is fantatically detailed and take such patience and dedication to make the films.
Banksy
Grafitti artist Banksy has become as famous for his art as he has for the fact that no one knows who he is or where his art will appear next. The pictures shown are just some of my favourites from his collection of work. I think he really captures the zeitgeist of Britain with his art such as the nanny state with the cctv cameras. Grafitti is becoming more widely accepted as a form of art rather than vandalism and Banksy has been a key player in the change.
